This cafe is run by taneya, a long-established japanese confectionery shop with its main store in omihachiman, shiga prefecture. the menu items made with freshly pounded mochi are popular, including the classic topped with plenty of bean paste, as well as a unique dish drizzled in fresh extra virgin olive oil. in the mochi-pounding area in the center of the store, craftsmen regularly hold impressive demonstrations of pounding with a wooden mallet.
