You can get up close and personal with the approximately 120 wild japanese macaques that live on the mountaintop. you may even encounter baby monkeys during the birthing season from april to july. another popular experience is feeding the monkeys through a wire fence. enjoy the adorable sight of the monkeys along with the beautiful scenery of arashiyama with its cherry blossoms and autumn leaves. it's a gentle 20-minute walk from the entrance to the park to the top of the mountain. the path is well-maintained and easy to walk on, so it's safe even for families with children.
