This japanese sweets shop can be found at the end of the bamboo forest path, one of arashiyama's most famous sights. as the sign says, "sweet potato shop," they offer a wide range of sweets, including sweet potato desserts such as candied sweet potatoes and potato chips, as well as mitarashi dango and daifuku. the most popular of these is the "aburi mitarashi," a large dumpling drenched in plenty of sauce. it's a staple food item when eating your way around arashiyama. be sure to also try their original japanese sweets, such as the "strawberry daifuku dango," topped with strawberries, bean paste, and fresh cream.
