Former okada family residence and sake brewery
This townhouse (a nationally designated important cultural property) was built in 1674 during the edo period and is considered the oldest existing sake brewery building in japan. it is an extremely valuable building as a relic that conveys the history of sake brewing in itami, which was immensely popular in edo. the shop is located at the front, the sake brewery is at the back, and the boiler room and washing area are lined up in between. sake such as "matsumidori," "fukicho," and "otegara" were brewed here. staff from the itami municipal museum, which manages and explains cultural properties, are also stationed here.
