Shisendo
Located next to hachidai shrine, shisendo is the place where ishikawa jozan, a literary figure of the edo period, lived in seclusion. formally known as shisendo jozanji, it is a soto zen temple where the sound of a shishi-odoshi (deer scarer) resonates serenely. in the shisen-no-ma (room of the poets), from which the temple derives its name, there are framed portraits of the thirty-six immortal poets of china, painted by kano tan'yu and others, with poems and inscriptions written by jozan himself.
