This is a park in a black pine forest, the official tree of ashiya. long ago, minamoto no yorimasa killed a bird at the kyoto imperial palace. the bird had the head of a monkey, the body of a badger, the limbs of a tiger, and the tail of a snake. fearing a curse, he placed the carcass in a dugout canoe and set it adrift on the kamo river, where it drifted ashore on ashiya beach. the villagers were astonished and frightened, and built a tomb here. this park is home to the "nue mound."
