Osaka prefectural nakanoshima library
Opened in 1904 as osaka's first library, thanks to a donation from the sumitomo family. designed by son'ichi noguchi, the facade resembles a greek temple, while the central hall is like a church. in 1922, wings were added, designed by yutaka hidaka, resulting in the current building. natural light pours in through stained glass from the dome ceiling of the central hall. the main building and both wings are designated as important national cultural properties.
