As part of the educational facilities of osaka college of music, this museum is used for classes and research at the college. it is open to the public irregularly. of its approximately 2,000 items, about 1,000 are displayed in two exhibition rooms. the first exhibition room is titled "the evolution of musical instruments, focusing on traditional japanese and european instruments," and the second exhibition room is titled "musical instruments from various regions of the world," with each room featuring a different theme in its permanent exhibition.
