The library established in 1915 (taisho 4), the year after the first performance of the takarazuka revue, within the takarazuka shin-onsen hot spring resort, developed into the takarazuka literary library in 1932 (showa 7), collecting a large number of books and magazines on theater, performance materials for the takarazuka revue, and materials on kabuki. in 1949 (showa 24), the ikeda library opened at its current location, inheriting its collection and materials. it is a distinctive specialized library, housing materials related to hankyu railway and the takarazuka revue, as well as books, magazines, programs on theater, and materials on kabuki and folk performing arts.
