This museum is operated by the urasenke, one of the three main schools of tea ceremony that trace their lineage back to sen no rikyu. it primarily exhibits tea ceremony utensils, related works of art and crafts, and historical documents. the exhibition room on the second floor features a full-scale replica of "yuin" (an important cultural property), a representative tea room of the urasenke, allowing visitors to see what the interior of the tea room looks like. at the tea ceremony room, visitors can enjoy matcha tea and japanese sweets related to the season or exhibitions in a standing style (ryurei style) while seated on chairs (fee required, separate admission fee applies, reservations preferred).
