This shrine is called kawachi kunidama shrine, and it is believed to have been built by a family of the ogouchi clan, who were based in kawachi province. it is a highly prestigious shrine listed in the "engishiki" (a historical document detailing shinto rituals and laws). the enshrined deities are ōkuninushi-no-mikoto, sukunahikona-no-mikoto, and sugawara no michizane. it is said that michizane's spirit is also enshrined here because his master, the monk son'i, came to see him off as his belongings were being exiled to kyushu, and he was sad to part with him.
