Kōsaiji temple is an ancient temple associated with chikamatsu. the japanese shakespeare, who left behind many masterpieces such as "sonezaki shinjū" and "shinjū ten no amijima," is buried here. the tomb on the temple grounds is surprisingly small, consisting of a three-tiered base and a tombstone about 50 cm high, and the year of his death is recorded as november 22, 1724 (kyōhō 9).
