Hongyo-ji temple was founded in 1596 by nichiju shonin. in the cemetery behind the main hall is the grave of fujii chikugai, a chinese poet of the late edo period. this area is a temple district that strongly retains the atmosphere of the time when it was a castle town, with temples such as rian-ji, kosho-ji, and hongyo-ji, which flourished as the family temples of the matsudaira clan, lined up along the street, creating a tranquil atmosphere.
