This was the site of a milestone marker, where a hackberry tree was planted every ri (approximately 4 km) along the highway to mark the distance. edo-period highway maps depict the area as it was then, including a teahouse in front of the marker. currently, there stands a hall dedicated to the "water-resistant jizo," a jizo statue that was moved here to escape flooding along the yodo river.
