This shrine is an auxiliary shrine located outside the main grounds of matsuo taisha, and it enshrines tsukuyomi-no-mikoto, the son of izanagi-no-mikoto. it holds particular significance when considering shinto beliefs and immigrant cultures in ancient kyoto, and it is said that there is a high possibility that the hata clan was involved. this shrine is also known as a deity of safe childbirth, and there is a stone called tsukienishi, which is believed to grant safe childbirth, on the shrine grounds. this is related to the story that empress jingu prayed here before going to silla, and after her return, she safely gave birth to emperor ojin.
