Kawabata yasunari literary museum
Ibaraki is the town where nobel prize-winning author yasunari kawabata (1899-1972) grew up. the literary museum built on a site associated with him displays his handwritten manuscripts, letters, calligraphy, and a model of the house where he lived as a boy. you can also listen to a reading of kawabata's essay "my hometown" by voice actor tomokazu seki.

| Closed | The museum is closed on tuesdays, the day after national holidays (except sundays), during the new year's holiday period (december 28th to january 4th), and for temporary closures for exhibit changes and document organization. |
