Kyoto confectionery shop matsuraku
This wagashi (japanese confectionery) shop has been making kyoto-style sweets for about half a century in front of the gates of matsuo taisha shrine. their signature confection, "okusaga," which is also recognized as one of kyoto's brands, is made with plumply cooked red bean paste wrapped in mochi (rice cake) kneaded with young mugwort sprouts. it is a sweet that evokes the atmosphere of moss-covered sagano. in addition to "taisha sake manju" and "sake senbei" made with the sacred sake of matsuo taisha shrine, they also offer colorful "kyoto ohagi" (limited quantity), and other items that make perfect souvenirs.
