Meriken park
This is the place to visit when you think of the port city of kobe! there are various monuments in the park, but the most famous is the be kobe monument, which is a popular photo spot. at the maritime museum, you can learn about the history of kobe port, and the magical atmosphere created when it is lit up at night is also attractive. cruise ships in the vicinity are also recommended. in addition, the "kobe port earthquake memorial park" is located next to it as a way to pass on the memory to future generations. it was renovated in january 2025, marking the 30th anniversary of the earthquake. the exhibition panels allow you to learn about the overview of the great hanshin-awaji earthquake, and depict the history of kobe port's recovery from the earthquake and even its future.
